WAVEBEAM
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
In WAVEBEAM, 2-4 local players navigate the darkness while battling one another to be the last ship left. Fire your BEAM to destroy other ships and stay hidden while navigating the arena. Your PING not only reflects enemy BEAMs, but also reveals your surroundings and your location to everyone, so use it wisely!
A Note from the Designer:
The concept behind this game was developed by myself and a few others during the 2017 Global Game Jam. Eight years later, I wanted to experiment with modern AI coding tools to assess their capability and limitations. I spent about an hour distilling the game's concept and writing a comprehensive game design document that aligned with my own vision, then I provided an AI coding agent with the design doc. Although it missed the mark in a few areas initially, the agent started out with something surprisingly playable that roughly reflected the design. After about 10 hours of additional tweaks, additions, and iterations, I ended up something that I was happy to share with the public - all without writing a single line of code.
The product of this experiment was well worth the time and money put into it, and while I could have developed this game entirely myself as a Software Engineer, I chose to do so with the use of AI and thus can't justify charging anyone for it.
HOWEVER - if you want to invest in the ongoing development of this game, I'll gladly accept donations itch.io, or you can donate via Venmo (@RyanCollins86) or reach out to me directly via RyanMakesBoardGames.com. I'll be sharing a roadmap in the Discord where you can also chat with other players, report bugs, and provide suggestions new features for the roadmap.
